NFL week preview- Divisional Round
NFL 22-23/01/2022: Green Bay Packers, Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Bucs in divisional playoff action
After a thrilling weekend of Wildcard action, we are inching ever closer to finding out who will contest this year’s Super Bowl. This weekend, we have some big divisional playoff games to look forward to. We will look ahead to the crunch clashes, which include the Green Bay Packers v San Francisco 49ers, and the Tampa Bay Bucs v the LA Rams.
Green Bay Packers may be fearing San Francisco 49ers clash
If there’s one team that could stand as a roadblock to the Packers’ chances of winning the Super Bowl, then it could be the 49ers. The 49ers have knocked the Packers out in the playoffs on three occasions since 2012. And there have been some convincing wins for the 49ers too.
In 2012, the 49ers brought their A-game to the table, as they rushed for 323 yards in a rousing 45-31 win. And in January 2020, the 49ers raced to a 37-20 victory, claiming 285 rushing yards. The Packers can’t afford to make any simple mistakes or else they will be made to pay the price.

Green Bay Packers place four players in practice squad ahead of San Francisco 49ers meeting
With a huge NFC divisional-round game coming up against the 49ers, it seems that the Packers are content to put some players in the practice squad. The four players are Abdullah Anderson, R.J. McIntosh, JJ Molson, and David Moore. They could still end up moving into the gameday roster, and playing against the 49ers, so we’ll have to see how things pan out.
San Francisco 49ers can capitalize on weak Green Bay Packers defence
Stats can sometimes be deceiving. However, the 49ers shouldn’t be fooled that the Packers’ defence conceded the sixth-fewest rushing yards during the regular season. The Packers have averaged 4.6 yards per carry, and the 49ers should look to capitalize on that. The 49ers have been a bogey team for the Packers, and that could continue on Saturday night.
Buffalo Bills taking inspiration from regular season performance
The Buffalo Bills will want to go deep. Up next is an AFC divisional playoff game against the Kansas City Chiefs. In the regular season, the Bills demolished the Chiefs 38-20, but the Chiefs are a much-changed franchise, having enjoyed a 9-1 record in their final run of games. Nevertheless, despite being seventh in the quarter-back ratings (QBR), the Bills’ Josh Allen has been superb.
Kansas City Chiefs makes interesting admission about Super Bowl
There’s still a fair bit of football to be played before the Chiefs can start to think about the Super Bowl. As mentioned, the Bills will be a threat, especially when they can call upon one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks in the regular season in Allen.
But Chiefs coach Andy Reid has used a sugary analogy to sum up whether winning the Super Bowl would make his side complacent. The Chiefs won the Super Bowl in 2020, and they were finalists last year, but Reid scoffed at suggestions of arrogance.

He said: “The Super Bowl is the chocolate cake with the ultimate frosting, and you’re going to try to go get it if you can.” And if the Chiefs can win their next two games, they would be just the fourth team in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl in three consecutive seasons. That would be remarkable!
Tampa Bay Bucs ease to victory over Philadelphia Eagles
The Bucs kept themselves on course for another trip to the Super Bowl with an emphatic 31-15 win over the Philadelphia Eagles, although it was a result that may have been somewhat flattering for the visitors. The Eagles had been the best in the NFL for rushing yards, but the Bucs were a cut above.
Naturally, the LA Rams will be a step up for the reigning champions, and Tom Brady will be eager to add another title to his bulging trophy collection. The Rams enjoyed a 34-11 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the Wildcard round, but this could be a bridge too far, and the Bucs should win this one.
