Champions League: all eyes on Group B

This is what the Champions League is all about. This season’s group stages has thrown together some giants and tonight’s fixture at the Wanda has got us licking our lips.

Liverpool travel to Madrid to take on Atletico Madrid as the teams look to get a grip on Group B and with both teams currently unbeaten, this one can end up a classic.

Domestically, Liverpool are also unbeaten after eight games and their front line is purring. Mo Salah is proving he is from a different planet, Firmino is back to his very best and Mane is, well, simply put: Mane!

That front line is the envy of Europe and it’s no mistake that Liverpool have already scored 22 goals in eight Premier League matches. Salah has seven of those goals, Mane 5 and with Firmino chipping in with four, you feel that Klopp’s top trio are back to their very best.

In La Liga, Ateltico have only lost one game. That championship is a little tight at the top with Atleti only three points adrift in fourth spot. It’s crammed tightly.

This fixture has its own history. When playing at home, Atletico have not lost to Liverpool in the last three encounters and when you add the fact that they haven’t lost any of their last 12 home matches in all competitions, you feel it will be a tight game.

Liverpool are undefeated in their last 13 games; they look unbeatable at this point in time. They might have one eye on the weekend fixture against Manchester United, but surely in the Champions League this elite club will not be distracted.

Both sides have goals in them and one man in particular sticks out. Luis Suarez has netted four times in eight La Liga games so far and he’s always a threat. Remember, Atletico are never a team based on scoring. They are tactically smart and quite defensive and that has been an effective method for them. If they can shut shop, and get Liverpool on the counter, then Suarez has a chance to hurt his former team.
