Blackburn managed a comfortable 2-0 win over Reading at Ewood Park and Reading have some work to do before an important home clash against Bournemouth.

Paunovic needs to juggle a small squad ahead of a very big game and it has to be said that our opponents are in extremely good form. They are the only undefeated team in the Championship so far, having only drawn four of their fourteen games played. Half of those draws came away from home and they are, of course, sitting on top of the table and already building a gap between first and second place. Scott Parker has done it all before with Fulham, and he is proving himself to be one of England’s best young managers already. The Cherries have a knack of spotting good, young, home grown managerial talent and have struck gold in Parker.

Reading’s last two results have not gone their way, but there is no place like home to stop a negative trend. Paunovic emphasised on the positive aspects of the game, which included a good first half display against Blackburn but  added that the Royals “Didn’t convert, made mistakes and paid a high price”

Two goals in quick succession from the home side put Reading to bed, and they scored that second goal at exactly the right time. Often, when teams concede, they are likely to concede again as concentration levels dip… and Blackburn capitalised on that dip at exactly the right time.

To add insult to injury, a first half change was needed as Azeez was forced off and frankly, Reading can’t afford more injuries as they continue to pile up in the treatment room.

A home win against the league leaders would be incredible, however unlikely given the current form of Bournemouth, but the best thing about the Championship is that you simply never know. We’re giving odds of a Reading victory at 3/1 or 4.00 while a draw is available at 13/5 or 3.6.
