FA Cup semi final preview

Wembley weekends always impress

Roll up roll up, the FA Cup semi finals are in town! Four teams looking to win football’s oldest cup competition in a Wembley weekend showdown. We’ve got a game on Saturday and a game on Sunday to keep you entertained and these always live up to the billing.

Saturday’s game is Chelsea v Manchester City while Sunday’s clash sees the two underdogs, Leicester and Southampton lock horns. The winners get a ticket to the final and a real shot at glory.

Saturday’s game has the makings of a classic as Manchester City chase a quadruple and Thomas Tuchel looks to win a trophy in his first season in charge of Chelsea. Both slides have European duties to fulfill and you can’t help but feel that those games can impact the weekend. Chelsea are in a more comfortable position in Europe so Tuchel might be keeping an eye on Saturday’s game and can perhaps rest a couple of key starters for the weekend. City, well as they chase the quadruple, the greed might swallow them whole. A shock 2-1 league defeat to 10 man Leeds United left Manchester United fans licking their lips as they eye a late league charge, but will one defeat really change anything?

Man City’s dance card is extremely busy. They’ve got this FA Cup semi final, the League Cup final, the Champions League semi finals and six more Premier League games still to play. But, they do look solid and with each knockout game they seem to find more hunger and desire to win.

They were simply outstanding in both legs against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League and playing like that they can beat anyone en route to the quadruple. Get City to beat Chelsea in the FA Cup at odds of 4/5 or 1.8

Leicester v Southampton happy to be at Wembley

Both these sides did things the hard way. Southampton’s fourth round win over Arsenal was something to behold for any fan of the Saints, especially when you consider Arsenal’s history in the competition. They are the FA Cup holders and the most successful club in that tournament.

Leicester had to overcome Manchester United and did so in style at the King Power stadium. Kelechi Iheanacho hit form at just the right time for the Foxes and it was his brace that sunk the Red Devils. He’s got eight goals in his last six games, including another brace at the weekend against West Ham United. Given his current form, who would argue against him scoring again this weekend. He is at 55/1 or 56.00 to score at least two goals on Sunday.

Southampton have had a strange season on the whole. They are 10 points away from the relegation zone so the good thing is they are not looking down. They do pose a threat going forward and Danny Ingys, James Ward Prose and Che Adams all know how to find the net. It is their defensive vulnerabilities that have let them down more often than not this season. A 9-0 thrashing against United was the tip of the iceberg as they have conceded an average of 1.7 goals per game in the league. Their last outing was a sorry 3-0 defeat to WBA and that result sums up Southampton as a whole. Will they manage to find a new groove in a cup semi final?

So, we’ve got an attacking team in Leicester playing a side which struggles to defend, but can also score goals too. This has the makings of a goal fuelled Sunday and we can’t wait for an end-to-end semi final. Both teams will go gung-ho for a place in the FA Cup final is up for grabs and we can’t wait for the Wembley kick off.

Get both teams to score at 10/13 or 1.77 and over 3.5 goals at 5/2 or 3.5
