Australia vs England – 5th Ashes Test Betting Tips

Host Australia will face England in the fifth Test of the Ashes series at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, starting from Friday.

The home team is already leading the series with a score of 3-0 after winning the first three fixtures whereas the fourth match ended as a draw. Captain Pat Cummins will be hoping that the side can continue their winning momentum in this series finale.

On the other hand, England will be looking to salvage some pride in this dead rubber against Australia. After securing a draw at Sydney, the visitors will be looking for a consolation win at Hobart.

Australia Form and Team News

Despite failing to secure a win in the previous Test, Australia will enter the last fixture of the series in high confidence and they are unlikely to make any significant changes in the starting XI.

The management will be hoping to see the players continue producing impressive performance in the final game of the series.

However, it will be interesting to see if left-hander Usman Khawaja managed to keep his place in the starting XI. The 35-year-old had an outstanding time in the fourth Test where he was playing in place of Tavis Head who was ruled out after testing positive for Covid-19.

Khawaja, who also admitted that he is still unsure whether he will take part in the fifth Test, scored a century in each innings in Sydney and deservedly won the player of the match award.

In the batting department, the home team will be relying on the likes of veteran opener David Warner, vice-captain Steve Smith, in-form Marnus Labuschagne, all-rounder Cameron Green and wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey to score the bulk of the runs and put the opposition under pressure.

On the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of pacers including captain Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland and off-spinner Nathan Lyon to dismantle the visitors’ batting lineup.

England Form and Team News

After securing a hard-fought draw in the fourth Test, England will enter the fifth fixture feeling relatively good about themselves.

The management will be hoping that the character shown by the team in Sydney Test will motivate the players in showing a similar kind of performance in Hobart as well.

However, England’s difficulties are set to increase as star wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler has already been ruled out of the fifth Test after returning home following a finger injury.

Not only Buttler but the visitors are also set to be without star all-rounder Ben Stokes who suffered a side strain in the fourth Test.

Those injuries are set to increase pressure on captain Joe Root who will have the most responsibility to score the bulk of the runs and give the visiting side’s bowlers something to bowl with.

He will be accompanied by the likes of Zak Crawley, last match’s centurion Jonny Bairstow, Nick Pope and Sam Billings.

In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of pacers Stuart Broad, James Anderson, Mark Wood along with the left-arm spin of Jack Leach to produce timely breakthroughs.

Our Tipster’s Angle

Cricket fans finally witnessed some competition between the teams as England managed to avoid an embarrassing whitewash after securing a draw in the fourth Test.

Despite that result, on paper at least, Australia look a far stronger unit compared to England, especially in the absence of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes.

Therefore, the prediction is for Australia to secure another win.

Tip 1- Scott Boland to continue his impressive form for Australia

Rookie pacer has been sensational with the ball in his debut Ashes series against England. In the fourth Test played at Sydney Cricket Ground, Scott Boland was the pick of the bowlers with seven wickets to his match. With 14 wickets at an average of 8.64 so far this series, Boland will be keen to continue his excellent form for Australia. Given his impressive performances in the previous two matches, we can expect pacer Scott Boland to take four wickets or more against England at [email protected]

Tip 2- Joe Root to carry batting hopes for England

England Captain Joe Root has been a premier performer for the side with bat in this Ashes series. With 277 runs at an average of 34.62 with three fifties, Joe Root is the leading the batting charts for England in this ongoing Ashes series.  After not doing much with the bat at Sydney, Joe Root will be determined to deliver notable scores in this series finale. So we can expect Captain Joe Root to score 35 runs or more against Australia at [email protected]

Conclusion

Expect Australia to beat England by a comfortable margin and clinch Ashes series by a margin of 4-1.
