Chelsea vs Aston Villa Betting Tips

Chelsea are hosting Aston Villa in the Stanford Bridge, London on the 11th of September 2021, Saturday at 22:00 IST. The European Champions are playing their fourth league game while they are yet to lose, Aston Villa have seen all results in the three games they have played as well.

Chelsea Form and Team News

Chelsea along with Man City have conceded the second least number of goals so far with just one goal, but unlike City, Chelsea have not lit up the league with goals from everywhere. They have won two games while drawing the last game against Liverpool. They were down and out at the halfway stage of the season last time around and boy did they make amends later on, they won almost everything on the way and eventually ended up defeating favorites Man City to the European title midway through this year. The League form is something that they can start revisiting from here on and start winning more often here to win the title eventually. Chelsea’s recent form has been staggering as they are yet to lose in the last nine matches. Chelsea have just one way to go and that is skywards, they are starting to look unstoppable by all standards.

Tuchel came into the side when they were in total shambles after the failed Lampard experiment and how he converted the same unit into a winning machine is a matter of absolute managerial master class from the German. He made some tweaks to combinations and players started to believe in themselves before unleashing their fullest in the game. They have a talented and lethal bunch of youngsters in the squad which augurs well for the team in the future as well. The addition of Lukaku too bolsters this fact.

Aston Villa Form and Team News

One each, that’s been Aston Villa’s scorecard after the first three games. They have had a win, a loss and a draw to show for their 11th placed showing so far. Aston Villa in the last few seasons have made a habit of staying outside the top ten in almost all of them. One word can be associated with this habit and that is ‘inconsistency’. They need to start winning on a consistent basis to have any chance of breaking into the top half of the table. They are playing against Chelsea in their next match and it could get tough if they exhibit the habit mentioned above, but it would be a different game if they are able to break them down and score before they can even imagine, Chelsea might find it difficult then.

Dean Smith has been at the helm for three seasons now and he has been quite decent to say nonetheless. An average 1.57 points is a good stat to have. But this could elevate further if Aston can find themselves in the top half of the table and Smith could throw in his hat for the best managers in the league list. Danny Ings has already hit two goals and assisted on occasion starting on the right note. McGinn, Mings, Bailey and Buendia have pulled the correct strings after the first three games, Smith would hope this continues in the long run.

Our Tipster’s Angle

Chelsea with the sort of form they are in are clearly the favorites to win here and only a special effort could put an end to Tuchel’s ‘win all’ agenda. Aston Villa can produce that sort of a performance, but will they? That’s the question we have because of the inconsistency tag attached to them. Nonetheless, this match could be about how Lukaku could fit into the side after a good start to his blues career.

Tip 1: Chelsea total goals under 2.5

Chelsea have in the last ten matches across competitions have seen nine of these games where they have managed to score under 2.5 goals individually. While in the last five home games that Chelsea have played, they have managed to score above the above limit in four matches of those. Aston Villa also have conceded under 2.5 goals in two of their last three games. Playing away, four of the last five games have also seen Aston Villa conceding under 2.5 goals to the opponent. While playing head to head, Chelsea has been under the limit in all of their last four meetings. So the game between Chelsea and Aston Villa on Saturday will most likely have Chelsea scoring under 2.5 goals in it. The odds for Chelsea total goals under 2.5 according to the Casumo Sportsbook is 1.54.

Tip 2: Both teams not to score

Two of the last three matches played by Chelsea across competitions have had both teams not scoing. At home, their last match also signified the above condition.  At home in this tournament, they have had both teams not to score scenarios in four of the last five games. Two of the last three matches that Aston Villa have been part of have had the above condition being satisfied. Playing away, three of the last four matches involving Aston Villa have had both teams not to score. Two of their last four head to head matches in the Stanford Bridge have also had the above condition satisfied. While in this tournament, three of their last eight head to head matches have also had both teams not scoring, so it’s most likely both teams might not end up scoring. The odds for Both Teams not to score according to the Casumo Sportsbook is 1.57.

Conclusion

Like mentioned above, it will only take a special effort to stop this Chelsea rampage. Can Aston Villa do what the others have not been able to do, we’ll find out on Saturday. Summarizing on a couple of tips from above:

  1. Chelsea total goals under 2.5  @ 1.54.
  2. Both teams not to score @ 1.57
