Croatia vs Scotland – Euro 2020 Betting Tips

Croatia are hosting Scotland in Hampden Park in Glasgow, Croatia on the 23rd of June 2021 at 00:30 IST. A win at all cost prospect looms large for both sides, while a draw or a defeat for either could knock them out of contention, only a win could save them.

Croatia Form and Team News

Croatia in the second game played out a draw against the strong Czech Republic side thus also managing to keep alive their hopes for qualification into the next round with that. They now need to win the next game against Scotland and hope they are among the best number three placed side to qualify. Croatia had also kept up the reputation of their defensive play against a rampaging England in the first game. They held together pretty well during the course of that game but failed to stop England from scoring a solitary goal and eventually losing it in the end. Now that the toughest match for them is past them, they still can concentrate on winning the last game from here on. In the EURO qualification rounds, they were part of Group E with Wales, Slovakia, Hungary and Azerbaijan in the mix. Croatia finished as the number one team in the group with 17 points from eight games played. They won five games while losing just one game in the process. They also drew two games in the campaign. They scored the highest number of goals for any team in the group with 17 strikes in the back of the net. Considering they have a dubious distinction of picking themselves up in elite competitions every time, we cannot count out Croatia just because of their recent record.

Zlatko Dalic, the Croatian national football team coach will once again form the x-factor for the side with his tactical show. It’s not often that you refer a coach to an X-factor but such has been the display from Dalic during his tenure that he deserves to get that credit. Captain Modric was decent in the last game. The right-wing was busy creating a lot of chances, Vrsaljiko along with Perisc and Modric were all contributing pretty well and eventually, Perisic delivered with a goal as well. Rebic was a let-off along with Lovren and Livakovic.

Scotland Form and Team News

Scotland after the first match loss against the Czech Republic did pretty well to hold England to a stalemate in the second game. They never allowed their neighbor to score which considering the amount of attacking options at their disposal, Scotland did a brilliant job. Scotland came in as underdogs into the tournament after the playoff matches, in the first match, they were completely outplayed by the Czech Republic national football team and eventually lost the tie by two goals to nil. Now they are facing a tough team in the last game and would hope to salvage something out of this game to qualify into the next round. Scotland did not qualify from the regular bracket of squads i.e. the top two teams buckets from each group but managed to do so after being the third-best squad from a bigger group of six teams.  After the ten games played, they won just five matches while losing just five games as well. They did not draw any games. They finished scoring 15 points with Belgium and Russia topping Group I. They conceded more than what they scored, which is not actually a good sign for any team going into a big competition like EURO.

Steve Clarke, the Scotland national football team coach has been quite inconsistent with results gathered, while the progression of the team under has been on the rise nonetheless but they have been too slow off the block in tournaments like these which could prove fatal along the way, Clarke might need to rectify that aspect of the game which if done would make Scots a tough team to beat on any day. The defense was tight against the rampant English side and did not lose shape in any part of the game thus managing to not concede, while the attackers could’ve probably created a bit more of opportunities in say nonetheless.

Our Tipster’s Angle

Both teams are in need of a win and only that will help their chances of qualifying for the knockouts. Croatia have not lit up the tournament as they did three years ago in Russia and probably this is the match that they start doing it. They also have a score to settle against the Scots i.e. the Scots have won both of their head to head matches, and Croatia needs to win this to open their account in that aspect as well. Croatia is likely to return winners here because they could handle the pressure well than the Scots on the given night.
