Rangers were last year’s Scottish Premiership League champions, and they fashionably won the league. They are not doing too bad this season but have fallen short of their set standards last season.

Dortmund looks like the superior team going into the clash, and it isn’t hard to see why this is so. In terms of squad quality, they are very superior to Rangers. Also, Dortmund is already having a bad season in the European club competition stage, and winning this trophy can mean success on the club level. 

Rangers were are a shadow of what they were last season when they clashed with Celtic as they were beaten 3-0. This is a call for concern on how they match up against top teams.

Tip 1: Dortmund to Win

Dortmund crashed out of the Champions League due to numerous squad injuries. However, even though some of their key players might be missing this game due to injury, it wasn’t as bad as before. 

Rangers were a team to beat last season, but they haven’t been convincing in the top stage as they have only won 1 of their last 3 games in the Europa league (drawn 1 and lost 1). 

The last time these two teams met was in 1998, and Dortmund won, but that stats are not applicable at this point as there have been significant changes in club and squad depths.

Tip 2: Dortmund Over 1.5 Goals

Even not in their best of forms, Borussia Dortmund has always managed to score goals. We were tempted to go with the over 2.5 goals option, but we think Rangers would have a defensive setup.

Conclusion

While this isn’t the most interesting UEL clash, we think it will be exciting to watch. Dortmund is currently superior to Rangers in terms of squad quality, and we don’t think they’d struggle against Rangers.

Rangers haven’t been convincing against top teams in Europe and Scotland as they have lost heavily and failed to beat some.
