England vs Germany Betting Tips

England are hosting Germany at the Wembley Stadium in London, England on the 29th of June 2021 at 21:30 IST. This is potentially the highest billed match of the round, two super heavyweight teams going head-on against each other which would make for a spectacle like no other.

England Form and Team News

England continued to display their scratchy form in the third game of the group game as well just managing to win against the Czech Republic by a goal to nil. England have been lacklustre even in the group stage playing too defensively in the process, they had to procure a dull draw against Scotland in the second game. England in the first game against Croatia was pretty dominant from start to end, but that didn’t really translate into goals nonetheless, Croatia defended with all their heart and looked to score as well which thankfully didn’t happen if you are an English supporter while also managing to scrape through to victory, the England side. England have not managed to win any big tournaments in the recent past and this could be their best chance to rewrite that record. They are facing very strong opposition in Germany in the round of 16, given they win here, it’ll be the nitro booster the English would need to go on to win the trophy.

Coach Gareth Southgate has had a stellar start to his coaching career over the years with the national team and is looking all set to translate that into winning more trophies which considering the team he has at his disposal is not a tough thing to do. The defence did what was asked of them in the last game with everyone contributing to the best of their ability to not let the opposition score. But the attacking players needed to produce something upfront which didn’t happen as well thus leaving the English team to settle for just one goal.

Germany Form and Team News

Germany could’ve been knocked out of the championship if not for an equaliser in the last game against Hungary. They had to play out of the skin against a spirited Hungarian side. Germany played their best football in recent times against the champions Portugal in the second game raking in goals for fun. They came from a goal behind to win it eventually by four goals to two. The much anticipated France vs Germany contest was nothing more than a damp squib with all due respect to the defences which kept the attacks from both ends at bay. Germany was very much the better team on that night but it was France who managed to break the deadlock to end up victorious. In the qualification rounds, Germany finished as the number two side of the group. Germany after the legendary run in the 2014 WC have just fizzled away from the championships after that. They are slowly beginning their old self in the recent showings.

Coach Joachim Low’s spectacular German coaching career is coming to an end after this championship. He would like to sign off on the best note possible and try to revoke that winning formula within the team to have any chance in this group. The midfield and the attack line literally lit up the German performance in the game against Portugal where Gosens in the left-wing combing with Havertz and Kroos to produce a masterclass. Kimmich too along with Mueller on the flanks was also a force to be reckoned with and if they can continue to produce performances like these, they can well and truly hope to go a long way.

Our Tipster’s Angle

Germany after the performance against Portugal are not just a favourites to win this game but have made a statement across to all the teams that they are back to where they belong and are playing the game just like they are known for playing. England have a chance only if they start scoring more to put the pressure back on the opposition rather than just waiting in the defence to work on the counter.

Tip 1: Germany to win

Germany as said above are displaying the brand of football they are famous for in the recent matches and are looking like they are probably likely to continue with the same in the upcoming matches given the form of the players. England, on the other hand, have not been able to translate their play into goals and that might come back to hurt them in the games to come against stronger oppositions. The Germans have a better record against the English in the recent head to head matches as well. Playing head to head against England, they have won three of the last five games played. And while playing head to head in England, Germany have not lost in the last two games. So it’s quite likely that Germany to win this game. According to the Casumo Sportsbook, the odds for the same is 2.95.

Tip 2: Total Goals over 2.5

Germany have been part of some high-scoring matches off-late. They have had seven games in the last ten matches where the total goal count was over 2.5. Playing away across competitions, Germany have had three of their last five games have also seen over 2.5 goals in total. England on the other hand have not been involved in any high-scoring matches. But their qualification round story is different. All eight matches they played had the total goals to be over 2.5. Coming to the head to the head stat, three of the last six matches between the two sides has seen over 2.5 goals in total. With the number of attackers both the sides possess it’s quite likely this match could well have over 2.5 goals in total. The odds for total goals to be over 2.5 according to the Casumo Sportsbook is 2.08.

Conclusion

England have been playing some defensive football so far, maybe they are polishing their arsenal for a worthy opponent and Germany fit the bill perfectly, we can expect some high octane football with this match. Summarising on a couple of bets from above:

  1. Germany to win @ 2.95
  2. Total Goals over 2.5 @ 2.08
