England vs India – 2nd Test Betting Tips

England and India will face off in the second Test of the four-match series at Lord’s from Wednesday.

The series opener was evenly poised when the final day was washed out and the game ended in a disappointing draw.

Therefore, both teams will be hoping to put a similar show in the second match and finally take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Both teams have competed 18 times in the five-day format at the Lord’s Cricket Ground where the home team have a far superior record with 12 wins compared to just two victories of the visitors whereas four matches ended as a draw.

England Form and Team news:

Despite producing a pretty decent display in the first Test where things remained in the balance for most of the match, England are likely to make some changes in the starting XI.

All-rounder Moeen Ali, who has been included in squad, is likely to return to the playing XI for the second fixture.

Young right-hander Haseeb Hameed, who last played for England back in 2016 as a 19-year-old, is likely to be included in the starting lineup after some average batting display from all the batters in the first fixture barring a few.

Pacer Stuart Broad has suffered an injury which makes him unlikely to play the next match.

Captain Joe Root’s return to form will be a major boost for the home team going in to the match. The right-hander scored a brilliant century in the second innings to put the hosts right back in the contest after a mediocre first-innings display.

In the batting department, England will be relying on the likes of captain Root, right-hander Ollie Pope, wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler and Hameed to score bulk of the runs and give the bowlers something to bowl with.

On the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of veteran pacer James Anderson, left-arm pacer Sam Curran and Ollie Robinson to claim timely breakthroughs.

India Form and Team News:

After producing a very good display in the series opener, India are unlikely to make too many changes in the starting XI for the second fixture.

However, since the match is being playing at Lord’s where in the recent past, the pitch assisted the slower bowlers, off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin might be included in place of a pacer.

In the batting department, the visitors will be relying on the likes of captain Virat Kohli, in-form opening batsman KL Rahul, veteran right-hander Rohit Sharma, resilient Cheteshwar Pujara, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant to score bulk of the runs.

On the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of pacers Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj along with the spin duo of Ravindra Jadeja and Ashwin to produce timely breakthroughs.

Our Tipsters Angle

First Test ended in a close contest where either team could’ve emerged victorious if the final day was not washed out.

However, since the second Test is being played at Lord’s, it is likely to assist the visitors more compared to the home team who have struggled there in the recent past due to a slower nature of the pitch.

Therefore, the prediction is for Kohli-led India to secure a win and take a 1-0 lead in the four-match series.

Tip 1- James Anderson to lead the charge for England with the ball

After producing a splendid bowling performance in the drawn Test at Trent Bridge, the veteran pacer will be determined to lead from the front and deliver another strong show with the ball at Lords Cricket Stadium.

With 105 runs in 24 Test matches at an average of 24.64, Lords Cricket Stadium has been a happy hunting ground for James Anderson. He has picked up six five-fors at the venue.

Given outstanding record at the venue, we can expect pacer James Anderson to pick four wickets or more in the 2nd [email protected]

Tip 2- England’s excellent record against India at Lords

Despite an inconsistent performance at Trent Bridge, the home side will be looking to make amends and deliver a clinical performance against India at Lords.

England will take heart from the fact that they have an excellent head-to-head against India in the Test matches played at Lords. In 18 Test matches played, England have dominated the proceedings with 12 victories to their name, while India have come out on top occasions (1986 and 2014).

Given home side’s excellent record at Lords, we expect England to beat India in the second game of the Test [email protected]

Conclusion

Expect India to register a hard-fought win over England in the 2nd Test

  1. Pacer James Anderson to pick four wickets or more in the 2nd Test-England @2.00
  2. England to beat India in the second game of the Test [email protected]
