Germany vs Hungary – Euro 2020 Betting Tips

Germany is hosting Hungary in the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany on the 24th of June 2021 at 00:30 IST. The Germans are well and truly back after the last game while Hungary needs to translate their good performances into wins to have any chance further.

Germany Form and Team News

Germany played their best football in recent times against the champions Portugal in the second game raking in goals for fun. They came from a goal behind to win it eventually by four goals to two. With that they probably have sealed a qualification until and unless they don’t lose the next game against Hungary. The much anticipated France vs Germany contest was nothing more than a damp squib with all due respect to the defences which kept the attacks from both ends at bay. Germany was very much the better team on that night but it was France who managed to break the deadlock to end up victorious. In the qualification rounds, Germany finished as the number one side from the group which also had the likes of Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Belarus and Estonia. Germany won seven games out of the eight matches played. They just lost a solitary game in the campaign which also saw them scoring 30 goals and conceding just seven games in the process. In the last ten games of Germany have managed to win as many as six games, just losing two games. Germany after the legendary run in the 2014 WC have just fizzled away from the championships after that. They are slowly beginning their old self in the recent showings.

Coach Joachim Low’s spectacular German coaching career is coming to an end after this championship. He would like to sign off on the best note possible and try to revoke that winning formula within the team to have any chance in this group. The midfield and the attack line literally lit up the German performance in the game against Portugal where Gosen in the left win combing with Havertz and Kroos to produce a masterclass. Kimmich too along with Mueller on the flanks was also a force to be reckoned with and if they can continue to produce performances like these, they can well and truly hope to go a long way.

Hungary Form and Team News

Hungary held together against a rampant French team in the second match and returned with a well-earned draw at the end of it. They now are facing the dominant Germans in the third game and only a win could prompt them into qualification which could be quite hard given the form the Germans displayed last game.  Hungary in the first game against Portugal literally managed to pull off what would’ve almost been the first upset of the season before luck deserted them when they needed it the most. Portugal eventually scored three goals in the last ten minutes to put the game to rest while Hungary can still keep their chin up for their showing at home against the Champs and hope to replicate the same as well as scoring some goals in the process in the next set of matches. Hungary were one of the very few teams in Europe to have qualified for the EURO this year even with a fourth-place finish in the qualification round. They were part of a very tricky Group E with the likes of Croatia, Wales, Slovakia, and Azerbaijan making up the rest. Hungary after the eight games played won four games while losing four games as well. They finished with 12 points, They scored lesser goals than what they conceded and just because they managed to reach the cutoff points tally, they were eligible for another set of knockout qualification matches. They faced Iceland here and went on to win the tie which prompted an entry into EURO 2020.

Marco Rossi, the coach has shown a tremendous amount of application with this team in tricky times, they are playing the elite tournament only for the second time in their history also because of some of the decisions taken by Rossi. The captain was out injured midway into the last match against France, the three men defence still managed to keep their line tight and hold the famed french attack. Fiola was the goalscorer on that occasion, he along with Sallai and Kleinheisler had a decent last game.

Our Tipster’s Angle

Germany after the last game performance against Portugal are not just favourites to win this game but have made a statement across to all the teams that they are back to where they belong and are playing the game just like they are known for playing. Hungary have a chance only if they start scoring more to put the pressure back on the opposition rather than just waiting in the defence to work on the counter.

Tip 1: Asian Handicap Germany -2

Germany as said above are displaying the brand of football they are famous for in the recent matches and are looking like they are probably likely to continue with the same in the upcoming matches given the form of the players. In the last three games, Germany have had two games where they went on to win the game by over two goals. Playing at home, the Germans have had three of the last five games where the above condition was satisfied. Playing head to head against Hungary, both of their last two matches have had Germany winning by two goals. And while playing head to head in Germany, their last game also had the above statement made right. So it’s quite likely that Germany to win by over two goals. According to the Casumo Sportsbook, the odds for the same is 1.94.

Tip 2: Asian Lines Total Goals over 2.75

Germany have been part of some high-scoring matches off-late. They have had six games in the last nine matches where the total goal count was over 2.75. At home across competitions, Germany have had four of their last five games have also seen over 2.75 goals in total. Hungary on the other hand have also been involved in some high-scoring matches as well. Four of the last seven matches have seen over 2.75 goals in total. Playing away, Hungary have had both of their last two matches satisfying the above condition. Coming to the head to the head stat, one of the last two matches between the two sides has seen over 2.75 goals in total. With the number of attackers both the sides possess it’s quite likely this match could well have over 2.75 goals in total. The odds for Asian Lines total goals to be over 2.75 according to the Casumo Sportsbook is 1.57.

Conclusion

Hungary need to win this irrespective of how Germany are playing presently, their only objective should be the same. Germany on the other hand cannot be complacent and try to win this game as well to get the momentum going into the latter part of the tourney. Summarising on a couple of bets from above:

  1.     Asian Handicap Germany -2 @ 1.94
  2.     Asian Lines Total Goals over 2.75 @ 1.57
