Multan Sultans vs Peshawar Zalmi – PSL Final Betting Tips

Multan Sultans will be looking to clinch their maiden PSL title when they face Peshawar Zalmi in the finals of the 2021 Pakistan Super League played at Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Mohammad Rizwan-led unit will look to seal its first-ever PSL trophy, while the Peshawar Zalmi will aim to add a second trophy to their glittering cabinet.

After non-stop cricketing action for the past 14 days, Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi have sliced through the pack to battle in Thursday’s final.

Both teams have faced off eight times in the history of PSL where Multan Sultans have an edge as they went on to win on five occasions compared to Peshawar Zalmi’s three victories.

However, in the last four meetings, Multan Sultans have been even more dominant as they emerged victorious on three occasions.

Multan Sultans Form and Team News

The occasion is especially historic for Multan Sultans, who make their first appearance in PSL final game. In the Qualifier game, Multan Sultans registered a comfortable win over Islamabad United, courtesy excellent performances from Sohaib Maqsood, Sohail Tanvir, and Johnson Charles.

In the batting department, the side will be relying on Captain Mohammad Rizwan, the middle-order trio of Sohaib Maqsood, Johnson Charles, and Khushdil Shah to deliver the bulk of the runs in this grand finale.

Wicket-keeper Mohammad Rizwan is 84 runs behind Babar Azam in the list of leading run-scorers in the competition this season. After perishing for a duck against Islamabad, Mohammad Rizwan will be keen to get back amongst the runs.

Besides Rizwan, Sohail Maqsood, who did struggle to get success in previous seasons with other teams, has elevated his game for Multan Sultans this year. Batting at no.3 in the batting order, Sohaib Maqsood has been a consistent performer for the side in this year’s competition.

In 11 matches played, Sohaib Maqsood has accumulated 363 runs at an average of 40.33 with three half-centuries to his name. In the Qualifier game, Maqsood was the star of the show and anchored the innings for Multan Sultans. He played exceedingly well and finished the innings with the top score of 59 runs off 41 balls with the help of seven fours and three sixes.

Besides Maqsood, Johnson Charles went berserk in the latter stages of the innings against Islamabad and smashed 41 runs off 21 balls, whereas Khushdil Shah chipped in with a quick-fire 42 with the help of five sixes

With cerebral spinner Imran Tahir and pace trio of Sohail Tanvir, Shahnawaz Dhani, and Imran Tahir, Multan Sultans boasts of a highly skillful bowling unit.

In the Qualifier game, experienced pacer Sohail Tanvir delivered a match-winning performance with the new ball. Left-arm medium-pacer claimed three wickets and conceded just 17 runs in his four overs.

Peshawar Zalmi Form and Team News

2017 PSL Champions will be looking to bring their A-game to the table for this epic final clash against Multan Sultans.

Peshawar’s batting line-up is no less impressive. Hazratullah Zazai notched up back-to-back half-centuries in the PSL playoff matches played against Karachi Kings and Islamabad United.

Shoaib Malik, Sherfane Rutherford have been consistent, all making in excess of 550 runs this season. The middle-order duo of Malik and Rutherford are devastating at the death, more than capable of repairing any early damage. And then there is wicket-keeper Kamran Akmal, who may have had an average run thus far, but is too good a talent to be taken lightly in this grand finale.

In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of opener Kamran Akmal, the middle-order trio of Shoaib Malik, Jonathan Wells, and Sherfane Rutherford to do the bulk of the scoring.

Mohammad Irfan, Wahab Riaz, and Umaid Asif, who scalped six wickets between them in the Eliminator game against Islamabad, form the best pace trio in the PSL. If they hit the mark on Thursday, Peshawar Zalmi can dominate the proceedings against Multan Sultans.
