ODI 1 of 3: Time for India to shine?

India take on Australia in the first ODI on November 27th. This series could take Virat Kohli’s career to unprecedented heights. As he just needs 3 more wins in this Australia-India ODI series to equal MS Dhoni’s record of most wins against the Kangaroos in this format. Secondly, Kohli would like to beat Australia once again on their soil, following their 2-1 victory in the last outing. Carry on reading this cricket betting preview and unlock more insights that can help you make informed betting decisions.
What makes this series even more interesting is the continuance of Virat Kohli as the India captain. There have been calls of replacing him with Rohit Sharma, but those calls have been royally ignored by the BCCI. Cricket watchers would agree that Sharma has time and again proven himself as a worthy captain. Recall the recently concluded IPL 2020!

All eyes on Rahul

  • Australia to win: 1.6
  • India to win: 4.25

That one player who will catch everyone’s attention will be KL Rahul. This fiery player from Karnataka who astonished Mumbai Indians in the IPL2020 will take over from Dhoni as the India wicketkeeper. This will be a momentous occasion for Team India because Dhoni was not just the team’s keeper, but its morale booster as well.
When he was not stumping batsmen, Dhoni was constantly pumping up his players’ spirits. While we aren’t expecting Rahul to do all this, we certainly expect him to at least match Dhoni’s standards as a keeper. Wicketkeeping apart, Rahul will also have to show tremendous skills, temperament, and restraint as the No. 2 player in the side. After all, he is playing as the team’s deputy in the absence of Rohit Sharma.

SWOT analysis of the Aussies

The Kangaroos definitely have pace in attack, comprising of Starc, Hazelwood, Cummins, Richardson, Cameron, and Sean Abbott. And when you bunch up Marcus Stoinis and Moises Henriques to this team, the Aussies have a much better bowling department. Complement it with Zampa and Ashton Agar, and now you have a balanced attack as these two guys are good spinners.
With Aaron Finch and David Warner, the Aussies can look forward to a solid opening partnership. Notwithstanding Finch’s poor form in the IPL2020, we still see him playing a crucial role for his team this Friday. Warner has been an excellent anchor and consolidator. Australia have a weak middle order and if the Indian spinners regain their form, the likes of Stoinis and Henriques can crumble up in no time.

How does the Team Blue stack up?

If you look at the top order, you’ll agree that they are better at building innings rather than stroke-making. Except for KL Rahul, and to some extent Hardik Pandya and Jadeja, there are no other batsmen who can chase runs should the top order collapse. And this time there is no Rohit Sharma around too. This is a good time for Rahul to establish himself; Deep Dasgupta, former wicketkeeper, thinks that KL can set himself up right until 2023 WC if he plays well.
