West Indies vs Ireland – 2nd ODI Betting Tips

West Indies will face Ireland in the second ODI of the three-match series at the Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica on Monday.

After securing a rather comfortable win in the first ODI, West Indies will enter the second fixture with high confidence and are unlikely to make any significant changes in the playing XI.

The management will be pleased with the overall performance of the players as the home team made some notable comebacks in the match, first in the batting after losing four quick wickets and later while bowling when the visitors were going strong in the chase of 245 and were 165 for the loss just two wickets.

Despite suffering a close defeat in the series opener, Ireland will enter the second ODI in a relatively good mood and they are unlikely to make too many changes in the starting XI.

The home team is 1-0 up after securing a 24-run win in the series opener on Saturday.

West Indies Form and Team News

The coaching staff will be hoping that the batting will improve as the Caribbean giants failed to bat their 50 on Saturday.

In the batting department, the hosts will be heavily relying on the likes of captain Kieron Pollard, last fixture’s player of the match Shamarh Brooks, opener Shai Hope, wicketkeeper-batter Nicholas Pooran and all-rounders Shai Hope, Jason Holder to score the bulk of the runs and put the opposition under pressure.

On the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of pacers Alzarri Joseph, Holder, Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith along with the spin duo of Akeal Hosein and Chase to dismantle the visitors batting lineup.

Ireland Form and Team News

The management will be overall satisfied with the performance of the players, especially after recent covid outbreaks within the camp which disrupted the teams’ preparation.

However, the coaching staff will be a bit disappointed after losing the first match from a very strong position and they will be hoping that the players will learn from it and produce a better display in the second fixture.

In the batting department, the visitors will be heavily relying on the likes of captain Andy Balbirnie, opener William Porterfield, Andy McBrine, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher and wicketkeeper-batter Lorcan Tucker to score the bulk of the runs and give the bowlers something to bowl with.

On the bowling front, the onus will be on the likes of pacers Josh Little, Mark Adair, Craig Young, Curtis Campher along with the spin duo of McBrine and George Dockrell to claim timely breakthroughs and restrict the home team to a manageable total.

Our Tipster Angle

Both teams will be coming in the contest feeling good about themselves after a hard-fought first ODI played at the same venue just two days ago.

Despite having a very close contest on Saturday, West Indies look a far formidable unit on paper compared to Ireland who are still missing some key players and did not have an ideal preparation before the start of the tour.

Therefore, the prediction is for the home team to secure a series win with a victory on Monday.

Tip 1- Kieron Pollard to continue his good form for West Indies

In the opening game of the ODI series, West Indies Captain produced a crucial innings to help the side post a competitive score on the board. Since 1st Jan 2021, Kieron Pollard has shown excellent form with the bat in limited-overs cricket. In seven matches played, Pollard has accumulated 206 runs at an average of 41.20 with three fifties to his name. Given his excellent contribution in series opener, we can expect Captain Kieron Pollard to score 30 runs or more against [email protected]

Tip 2- Harry Tector to continue his merry ways with bat

Middle-order batsman has been a bankable performer for Ireland in the limited-overs format. In the series opener, Harry Tector notched up a splendid half-century against West Indies. Since 1st Jan 2021, Harry Tector has scored 507 runs in 15 innings at an average of 39.00 with five half-centuries to his name. Given his consistently good performances, we can expect middle-order batsman to score 25 runs or more against West [email protected]

Conclusion

Expect West Indies to beat Ireland and go 2-0 up in the three-match ODI series.
