Casumoween Night

Erasing boredom in terrifying ways

We all love our traditions and casumos seem to love them too (ours, we mean). That’s why every 31st October they wait expectantly for the cover of darkness so they can hit the streets of their home planet of Odd, indulging in their own versions of Halloween traditions

Trick or Treat

It’s Casumoween night and all over Odd the crowds are gathering. Casumos are out and about, knocking on doors, knocking on windows and on each other’s faces, knocking in the most peculiar places while doing the trick or treat down every street. Some are dressed as vampires, some as werewolves. Others run naked thinking they look like very frightening ghosts. A casumo dressed as a priest met another casumo dressed as an unbeliever and converted him with marshmallows. Sweet.

The Carving

A colossal candle inside the carved giant-watermelon is throwing flickering shadows all over the wide field where casumos dressed in very frightening costumes are running here and there chasing after the shadows and trying to catch them. The one that catches all shadows will get an extra portion of candy soup tonight!

Candy Soup

What’s cookin’ good lickin’? (sic) A sweet and fragrant smell oozes out of the ancient cauldron, mixing with the heavy smoke from the fire that’s been kindled underneath. The thick liquid inside bubbles and steams and an occasional piece of unmelted candy floats on the sweetest of currents. A couple of spoon-wielding casumos stand by to stir the soup every now and then, while around them, hundreds of other casumos wait reverently for the candy soup to be done. It will be a sugar-coated casumoween night on planet Odd.

Mischief night

Casumoween approaches. He radiates pure fear across all of Odd. Frightened casumos get off the streets to hide, cowering, under their bed sheets. The ground and the walls tremble and shake with the monster’s every step, fruits fall from branches, leaves scatter in the wind. Clouds of dust rise up, making the hundreds of casumos standing on each other’s shoulders sneeze. Atishu. Aaaaa-tishu. The monster dies.
