Liverpool, Leicester and Everton to remain unbeaten

Three games in and the Premier League’s undefeated leading trio are looking hot. Liverpool are the business once again, Leicester are fast and furious while Everton have been unpredictably brilliant.

The scary thing for neutrals is just how solid Liverpool look. Yes, we’re only three games in, but when you think they’ve beaten both Chelsea and Arsenal in a fortnight you can’t help but praise them.

Klopp’s men are organized and the club conducted extremely smart business in the transfer window. Latest recruit Diogo Jota looks like he’s been at the club for years and had a huge impact in the 3-1 over Arsenal. His goal put the Gunners to bed.

Oh, and for the doubters: Liverpool beat Arsenal without Thiago, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Matip. The squad depth they possess is frightening, and Liverpool are early title favourites with outright odds of 1.87

Opponents Aston Villa, who were so close to the trapdoor last season, are a completely different team from last season. They’ve played two, won two and conceded zero.

Read that again. Yes, Villa are still unbeaten and there is genuine optimism around Villa Park. Liverpool might be too strong for them, but hopefully the result won’t flatten Villa’s wave of optimism.

Liverpool to win after going a goal behind: 8.00

The man with the golden pass

Neighbours Everton have surprised us all. Eight goals in three games is a great return and they’ve even conceded one less than Liverpool. That last part is surprising, considering the Carabao Cup clangers dropped by Jordan Pickford.

James Rodriguez has given the Everton midfield the spice it needed, and their turnover from midfield to attack has been rapid and precise. He’s given this team a Licence to Thrill, and I’ll put an end to the Bond puns here.

It’s Brighton next for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, and we can’t see Everton dropping points. They’re beginning to gain momentum and are gelling well together.

Everton to win both halves: 4.60

Leicester are currently top of the league. Helping themselves to FIVE goals against Manchester City was impressive, but when you see that Man City’s defence is about as watertight as a sieve, the result gets dampened.

Still, the win does wonders for their confidence and the Foxes are flying. It’s West Ham at home next, and we can’t see their winning streak end.

West Ham hammered Wolves 4-0, but you get the feeling the result was a fluke. Ironically, David Moyes missed the game, and maybe that’s just what West Ham needed!

We’re backing Leicester in this one, correct score: 2-1 at 8.00

Mourinho v Solskjaer

The war of words started early between these two, and Sunday’s fixture has come at a good time. This match is totally unpredictable. It can go from the extremely dull, to the frantically fun, and picking a winner is impossible.

It’s one of those games where you wish both managers could include themselves in the line ups. Mourinho’s bitterness towards his former employees is evident, while Solskjaer is all too keen to prove doubters wrong.

Manchester United were carved open time and time again by Brighton, who hit the frame of the goal five times last weekend. There’s no obvious style at United and the defence is worryingly poor.

Spurs have been inconsistent. They have lost one, won one and drawn one in their first three games but played brilliantly against Newcastle. A repeat performance would surely be too much for United to handle, or will inconsistencies foil them in match week 4?

It’s the master v the apprentice, the old-school v the new school… and sadly for viewers, it can also end up as the dull v the boring. We pray it’s not the latter, as we hate boring games on a Sunday!

One thing is almost certain here: Penalties. We spoke about pens on Tuesday’s blog post… and you wouldn’t bet against United winning or conceding a penalty kick.

Correct score: Manchester United 1-1 Tottenham Hotspurs at 6.75
