History First

Usually, we’d dive straight into the details of the game. However, in this particular case, we think it’s important to share some history about the ‘beast’ featured in this slot: Quetzalcoatl.

Before anything, let’s try to understand how to pronounce the name of this dragon-like, mythical creature! We did some research and the name should be pronounced / kɛtsælkoʊˈɑːtəl / (ket-sal-koa-tel), with the ‘k’ from kind.

Quetzalcoatl is the Aztec God of wind, air and learning in Mesoamerican culture. The name comes from the Nahuatl language which means ‘Precious Serpent’ or ‘Quetzal-featured Serpent’. Animals representing Quetzalcoatl include the Resplendent Quetzal (a kind of bird from Central America), the rattlesnake (coatl means ‘serpent’ in Nahuatl) and the Macaw (a type of colourful parrot).

And what do you get when mixing a snake and a bird? Correct! A massive, colourful ‘feathered serpent’. Phew, we’re glad we figured this out! Now let’s move on to the game’s special features.

Quetzalcoatl’s Trial is a video slot with 5 reels and 9 fixed paylines. The game features a Bonus Game with Wild collect, symbol upgrades and a 5-level free spin mode. Let’s have a closer look at what this game is all about, shall we!

Symbols

The Quetzalcoatl Emblem symbol is the highest paying symbol. It’s both a Scatter and a Wild symbol, and substitutes for any other symbol in the Base Game and in the Bonus Game. The Quetzalcoatl Emblem symbol could generate both scatter pays and payline wins. The mid-win symbols are (from lowest to highest) the Cup, the Axe, the Crown and the Quetzalcoatl Statuette.

Wild Collect Feature

In the Bonus Game, Orbs are collected from each Wild symbol to fill a symbol meter. Each time a meter is filled with 5 Orbs, the corresponding symbol is replaced with the next mid-win symbol, going from lowest to highest.

Bonus Game

The Bonus Game consists of a 5-level free spin mode where you collect Wild symbols in order to level up. Fill up the symbol meter, and all symbols will turn into the Quetzalcoatl Symbol for the rest of the Bonus Game and no more collections will happen. Each time a meter is filled you’ll be awarded with 2 extra free spins!

3 or more Quetzalcoatl Emblem symbols trigger or retrigger the Bonus Game, awarding 10 new free spins. The Bonus Game is played with the same bet as the spin that triggered the Bonus Game.

Max. Total Bet Multiplier

The maximum total bet multiplier for one game round is 5,555! If this limit is reached, the game round will be terminated and no additional wins will be paid out.
