Royals look to notch up another win in Nottingham

Three straight victories, three straight clean sheets… now we’re talking! Reading are back on the road and head to Nottingham, where they hope to sharpen their axe against Forest.

The Reading players seem to have the bit between their teeth and last weekend’s 3-0 win over Wednesday was a real pressure release following two hard fought victories. Three in a row is always a good achievement and extending that sequence of wins would help ignite the charge further. 

Paunovic is as thrilled as the fans stating that “We are compiling good results, and combining them with good performances – which is important for our confidence. That is key, together with consistency, the mentality, the experience and the growth we’ve had since the beginning of the season.”

As the push for the playoffs continue, getting a good run together will be key to securing a top six spot and the Forest game offers another chance for the Royals to impose themselves. In stark contrast to Reading’s form, Forest have not won in their last three games. They sit in 17th place in the Championship and will be looking over their shoulders as only eight points separate them from the bottom three.

It felt great to have Lucas Joao back amongst the goals as he tucked away his 18th league goal this season. He’s scored 37% of all Reading’s goals which is impressive, while seeing Andy Yidom score his first goal this season pleased everyone. In fact, the three goals came from the three main areas of the pitch. A midfielder, a defender and forward all scored and that speaks volumes about Paunovic’s style and the current confidence in the camp. 

Three wins in a row is impressive, but keeping three clean sheets on the trot in this division is impressive. Rafa Cabral and his back line seem to get stronger by the week and this offers a platform for the whole team to build on.
