Testing times for Liverpool and Spurs

Liverpool travel to Tottenham on Thursday night and both teams are in an awkward position. Sitting fourth and fifth respectively in the table is being deemed as not good enough at this stage. For Liverpool, as defending champions, the pressure comes with the title. Meanwhile with Mourinho at the helm, fans began to dream at Spurs and they built up their own hype with a solid start to the season.

But yet, here they both are, bang average and for all their hype it’s extremely underwhelming.

Liverpool’s league form is terrible. They haven’t found the net in four successive games. Yet two FA Cup games brought them six goals. It’s odd, and given Mourinho’s defensive stubbornness, they risk drawing another blank on Thursday night.

Salah did grab two confidence boosters against Manchester United, but since it was United who progressed, they might feel like a sucker punch.

Tottenham are unbeaten in four league games and have juggled their cup responsibilities well. They are through to the EFL Cup final and that’s a trophy Mourinho would love to get his hands on.

Tottenham haven’t won any of their last 6 games against Liverpool. We hate typing this but we’re not predicting too many goals here, if any. A goalless draw does literally no one good, especially neutral fans, but with Liverpool in such a tender position and Spurs so keen to defend, they might settle for an underwhelming point.

A draw is priced at 13/5 or 3.6
A goalless draw is going for 23/2 or 12.5

I hope we are wrong and we can enjoy a classic!

Arsenal v United never disappoints

While Thursday’s fixture might put you to sleep, Sunday we’ve got a clash which always delivers. Arsenal take on league leaders Manchester United and it’s an interesting time to be a United fan right now.

Like some mad genius in a lab, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer seems to have stumbled across his formula for success and United are truly cruising. Consistency is the key and he seems to be getting it from everyone at last. We’re still seeing some silly individual errors from trying to be cute and playing it out of the back, but with the attack in great shape, the blushes are being spared.

Arsenal and United are in two different periods of their development. A year ago, Man Utd were number 8 in the table with 28 points. Now they are number 1 with 40 points. The Gunners are 11th after a disastrous winter but Arteta is doing an overdue clear out. Mesut Ozil is finally out of the club, and Sokratis was also let go. Martin Odegaard comes in on loan and he does add excitement but is a short term solution.

We can’t see beyond a United win at the Emirates. Manchester United are unbeaten in 10 away games this season and have now not lost in their last six games.

A thrashing would be fun, and we’ve seen that before in this fixture. Over 2.5 goals for Manchester United is priced at 4/1 or 5.00. The Red Devils are also at 49/20 or 3.45 to score in both halves.

This game can deliver goals and we’re really hoping for a classic! Both teams to score in both halves is a wild shot, but yours at 11/1 or 12.00.
