UCL: The Round of the Last 16 continues to entertain

Last week’s Champions League batch was fun and entertaining and we can see more goals fly in this week, especially in Germany!

We’ve got another four games this week, including the tastiest of the bunch: Atletico Madrid v Chelsea. Atleti’s domestic form has been impressive and they lead La Liga comfortably despite a shock defeat at the weekend. Surprise summer signing Luis Suarez, who let’s face it should have NEVER been discarded by Barcelona, is the league’s top scorer and the bad news for Chelsea is that he loves scoring in Europe too.

He’s somehow managed to score 16 goals in his first 21 games for Atletico in all competitions and though he’s failed to score in Europe so far this season, we can’t wait for him to get going.

Get Luis Suarez to score first at 24/5 or 5.8

Chelsea will need to be intelligent against a pragmatic manager like Diego Simeone. It’s always been about the results and defensive stability for the former centre-back, and his team is drilled to perfection.

Tuchel is no stranger to the European stage of course. His Paris Saint-Germain reached the final last season. Since replacing Lampard, the Blues have been unbeaten, and he’s even managed to get Timo Werner in amongst the goals. We feel his progress will accelerate once his confidence grows and you can get Werner to score against Madrid at 13/5 or 3/6.

Tuchel and Simeone will both build around their defenses, so while we do have a field packed with potential goalscorers, stubborn defenses might prevent a goal fest. Get under 2.5 goals priced at 1/2 or 1.5. Remember, Atleti have only conceded 16 goals in 21 La Liga games, while Chelsea are averaging 1 concession per game.

Correct score: Atletico Madrid 1-1 Chelsea

Gundogan gunning for glory

Wednesday night see’s high-flying Manchester City head to Monchengladbach and we can’t see anyone stop Pep Guardiola’s men this season. They have been flawless, and Monchengladbach shouldn’t be able to stand in their way.

City are currently priced at 11/4 or 3.75 to win the Champions League and in this particular game we can see City winning by over two goals. Ilkay Gundogan has become their go-to hero and you can get him to score at least two goals at 8/1 or 9.00.

This way for more goals

The other two games this week are Lazio v Bayern Munich, and Atalanta v Real Madrid. While we do love a surprise, we can’t look beyond the obvious here. Wins for Bayern and Real. Lucky for us however we feel we’re going to see goals!

It’s always impossible to imagine anyone beating Bayern Munich, and Lazio’s inconsistent form should be easy to deal with. Usual suspects Ciro Immobile and Robert Lewandowski are your main bets for goals. Get Lewadowski at 27/10 or 3.7 to score the game’s first goal.

As for Real Madrid, you simply never know! Atalanta are the neutral’s favourite with the young team sitting in 6th place in Serie A. Real are Real, and they should have enough experience to deal with the inexperienced Italian outfit.

We’re going for over 3.5 goals in Atalanta v Real Madrid at 8/5 or 2.6.
