Who will get a grip on second spot on Super Sunday?

The sofa is where you’ll spend most of your Sunday as we’ve got two crackers as Manchester United and Leicester look to get a grip of second spot.

The early game sees Leicester take on Arsenal, with Manchester United playing at Chelsea in the later kick off. 

We’ve all enjoyed Leicester’s season so far and their recent run of results has us purring. The 3-1 win over Liverpool laid down a marker, and they backed it up with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa. Brendan Rodgers has them playing with swagger and confidence and that is something we can’t say about Arsenal.

Their 4-2 win over Leeds was encouraging, however it came as their only win in six in all competitions. There is no shame in losing against Manchester City this season, but generally Arsenal’s form has been all over the place. Tenth place is unacceptable for this club and fans are fuming. Still, the bright side is that despite their own league position, they are only two points behind rivals Tottenham. Yes, they should be aiming for the European spots, but finishing above Spurs always feels like a trophy for the Gunners.

Big game man Vardy loves to haunt Arsenal

We expect Arsenal to show up and try, again, but it’s hard to see Leicester dropping points here. Jamie Vardy simply loves to play against Arsenal, who tried desperately to sign him three seasons ago. He’s scored 11 goals against them and he is a big game player. We wonder what celebration he’ll whip out when he does score. Back vardy to score at least two goals with odds 15/2 or 8.5.

The lovely thing about the Foxes this season is that they are not solely relying on Jamie Vardy for goals as Harvey Barnes is also on good form with nine Premier League goals this season. We can see where Leicester get their goals from, but we really can’t see any goals for Arsenal. They averaged a goal a game in their last six, but four of those six goals did come against Leeds, skewing the stat.

Back Leicester to win to nil at 33/10 or 4.3.

Over to the Bridge

Three points to Leicester would see them go three points clear of Manchester United and this should ignite the Red Devil’s flame. I say should as we’ve seen United bottle it before this season. Some say it is an advantage to know the previous results beforehand, but even in the Champions League, when United had control of their own destiny, they failed to progress. 

Should Leicester drop points, seeing United follow suit won’t surprise anyone. It would frustrate, yes, but it would be typical of a side who hasn’t learned how to deal with pressure well at all. Just remember they reached three semi finals last season, and still fell in a semi final in the EFL Cup this season. 

Chelsea have started life comfortably under Thomas Tuchel. His Blues are unbeaten, Mason Mount looks indomitable and Giroud’s unbelievable goal against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League extended their unbeaten run. The Blues looked composed and dealt with a cagey Atleti very well with patient build up, and a solid midfield display.

Their composure on the ball seems to have improved under Tuchel and they suddenly look like a solid outfit. United’s more frantic approach to the game and apartment lack of focus in some matches does give Chelsea an edge we feel, and you can back the Blues to win at 6/5 or 2.2 with Casumo.

Correct score prediction: Chelsea 1-0 Manchester United at 7/1 or 8.00. This means that Leicester would go second with a win, but will it stay this way till final day? We’ve got a long way to go!
