While working from home

Sharing Insights: Casumo working from home

Meet Chandni and take a peek into Casumo’s world of working from home

In this mini-series of our ‘Sharing Insights’ interviews, we’re asking our fellow Sumos about their working-from-home routines, best practices, favourite tools (both online and off) that help support them to work remotely and a whole bunch of tips and tricks!

In this week’s ‘Sharing Insights’ interview, we’re having a one-to-one video chat with Chandni, who likes to practice her daily Sun Salutations to keep the body and mind active and stresses the importance of managing expectations while working from home.

Hi Chandni!

Chandni pours herself a big glass of water as she sits down for our video call. “Stay hydrated, that’s my first tip!”, she laughs, takes a sip and continues, “Alright, fire away.”

Casumo: “Haha, great thanks, duly noted! Any more health related tips that you could share with us, have you managed to add at home workouts to your daily routine, for example?”

Chandni: “Yes, in fact, I have! I like to do my Surya Namaskar, the Sun Salutations, every morning. It’s a really great yoga practice that will keep your entire body active in a holistic way while at home.”

Casumo: “How do you make sure that you take your breaks away from the screen?”

Chandni: “ I make sure that I get up to get a glass of water every hour, and I try to take at least 30 minutes to prepare and eat lunch. You really need to properly step away from the screen when you’re having a meal, that’s very important.”

Casumo: “Do you have any best ‘working from home’ practices that you could share with us?”

Chandni: “Hmm…”, she takes a moment to think and then answers: “To set some clear boundaries for yourself. For example, I do not connect to Slack (the business communications platform that we’re using) after 6.30PM and, most importantly, I make sure to manage my own expectations, as well as my colleagues’. I try to limit my schedule to 5-6 meetings per day so that I am left with enough time to focus on the work that has to be done that day.”

Casumo: “What is your favourite working-from-home snack?”

Chandni: “Oooh that’s definitely chocolate! Is that bad? Should I rather pick something more healthy?”

Casumo: “Haha, not at all! We asked for your favourite, didn’t we?”

Casumo: “Which platforms do you like to use to stay in touch with your friends and family?”

Chandni: “I’m using Zoom and the Houseparty App for video calls with my family and friends.”

Casumo: “Which books are you currently reading?”

Chandni: “I’m reading The Path Made Clear by Oprah Winfrey.”

Casumo: “Did you find yourself picking up any new indoor hobbies or interests? Anything you could recommend?“

Chandni: “I find watercolour painting very relaxing, it really is an amazing stress buster! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, creative outlet – post working hours.”

Casumo: “Of course. Chandni, these are some amazingly useful tips and recommendations, thank you very much and we’re looking forward to seeing some of your working-from-home inspired watercolour art!”
