Reading v Sheffield United betting preview

We back Reading to win v Sheffield

A roller coaster week ended in a 1-1 home draw against Nottingham Forest and truth be told, we’re glad it’s over.

The week started with the mammoth news that Reading had signed Andy Carroll which sent twitter into hyper-drive. That was the peak, but the trough that followed hit like a punch to the stomach. Reading and EFL agreed to a six point deduction as a penalty for financial mismanagement, which left the Rs in 20th spot in the Championship.

There’s no point in arguing, or looking down at the table as the only way is up. The point scored against Forest is a good one as the Royals prepare for a Tuesday evening fixture against Sheffield United.

We’ve got the SCL stadium under the lights, a chance to move on and another opportunity to get some more points on the board. What’s not to love this week?

Last Saturday’s draw saw Reading fight well and respond well to going a goal down. Conceding early is always hard to take, but the reaction showed what this team is all about. It was pleasing to see new signing Andy Carroll come off the bench, and we can expect more sharpness from him as he gains important match minutes.

Sheffield United are never an easy opponent, though this is perhaps the best moment to play them. They have not won in their last four games and they have not won when playing away from home since the 18th of September.

Reading really need to put them to the sword, and a good win can see the Royals leapfrog them in the table. If the whole performance can be based on last Saturday’s second half then Reading can be unplayable. Reading had more clear cut chances than Forest and enjoyed more possession too so it would be good to take that momentum going forward.

Scott Dann’s leveller was just and frankly with more time Reading could have sealed the three points, an opportunity they will surely not waste on Tuesday night.

We’d love to see Andy Carroll involved from the get-go and we’re backing him to open his R’s account soon. When that does happen, you’ll be in with a chance to bag yourself his t-shirt. Follow us on Twitter to find out more.

We’re going for the three points on Tuesday and backing the Royals to win 2-0. You can get that bet priced up with odds of 17/1 here at Casumo.
