NFL 12/12/2021: Tampa Bay Bucs host Buffalo Bills, LA Rams travel to Arizona Cardinals

We are fast approaching the end of the regular NFL season. Although the AFC picture looked a bit chaotic, we have a clearer idea of how things are shaping up. We will provide the lowdown on three games this weekend, including the Tampa Bay Bucs v Buffalo Bills, and the Arizona Cardinals v Los Angeles Rams. We will also divulge the latest match odds.

Tampa Bay Bucs could clinch a playoff spot this weekend

The Bucs took care of business last weekend with a commanding display, as they saw off the Atlanta Falcons 30-17. The Bucs pulled away in the second half, and Tom Brady, whose record as a starter against the Falcons is now 10-0, was immense once again. Brady completed 38 of his 51 passes for 368 yards.

Brady combined with Rob Gronkowski for two scores, but wide receiver Chris Godwin finished with 15 catches for 143 yards. He set a new single-game franchise record, eclipsing the record set by James Wilder over 35 years ago. And the Bucs — who enjoyed a clean sweep over the Falcons — could seal a playoff berth this weekend, but results have to go their way.

How Tampa Bay Bucs can win the NFC South division title

It has been a remarkable season for the reigning Super Bowl champions. And the Bucs could clinch their first division title in 14 years. However, there are some permutations. The Bucs have to defeat the Bills, but the Falcons would have to beat the Carolina Panthers, and the New York Jets would need to see off the New Orleans Saints for that to happen.

Buffalo Bills left fuming after defeat to New York Jets

The Bills were fuming after their 14-10 defeat to the New England Patriots last weekend. Could it be season-torpedoing? Well, Bills head coach Sean McDermott was left embarrassed as the Bills slumped to defeat against one of their fiercest rivals. When asked for his thoughts after the game, McDermott said: “Let’s not give more credit than we need to give credit to Bill Belichick.”

Arizona Cardinals become the first team in NFL to reach special landmark

After being granted a bye, the Cardinals are eager to finish the regular season in style. And they became the first team in the NFL to rack up 10 victories this season (10-2) with a 33-22 win over the Chicago Bears last weekend. Jordan Hicks shone, and he picked up the NFC Defensive Player of the Week award after registering two sacks and 13 tackles.

Arizona Cardinals defence continues to lead the way with adventurous play

Although Hicks made a strong pass rush on the Bears’ passing downs, he was well-supported by his teammates. Chandler Jones had five sacks, while Zach Allen forced Andy Dalton into some errors. Indeed, the Cardinals managed to turn four Dalton interceptions into 23 points. It will also have been a welcome sight to see DeAndre Hopkins return from injury.

Meanwhile, Kyler Murray contributed a season-high tally of 59 rushing yards after also returning to action. Murray and Hopkins looked comfortable together, and they gave the Cardinals an energy boost. Against the Bears, the Cardinals had seven players that pulled off at least two quarterback pressures.

Meanwhile, the Rams could make some tweaks. What has been noticeable this season has been their lack of strength in the wide receiver department. But after waiving JJ Koski from their roster, the Rams will have some big decisions to make ahead of their meeting with the Cardinals. The Rams currently boast an 8-4 record, and they sit in second spot in the NFC West.

Washington making noise in the NFC East

In October, Washington appeared to be going through the motions, as they had a 2-6 record at one point. But they have turned things around, and how. Question marks were asked of the Washington defence, but four straight wins have seen them improve to 6-6, and they are now second in the NFC East.

However, the Dallas Cowboys appear to be in control of the division with five games left to play. After tasting defeat in three of their past four games, the Cowboys took out the Saints, with a 27-17 win last week. What is more impressive, is the Cowboys have the second-highest interception rate in the NFL. Washington will have to be on their guard.
