Reading FC: Swifty to work his magic v Blackpool

We love a weekday fixture under the lights and we are super excited by this one. Blackpool are in town to take on red-hot Reading, who bagged another three important points at the weekend.

The 1-0 win over Barnsley at the weekend came at the courtesy of a wonderful John Swift goal. That was something special, wasn’t it? He’s enjoying himself this season and has helped himself to eight goals so far this season. He is the club’s leading goal scorer and we can’t possibly even imagine what this squad will be like when Lucas Joao and Yakou Meite return from injuries, amongst others.

The visitors on Saturday gave Reading a run for their money. They had more ball possession, more attempts on goal too, but Reading’s defensive strength and a moment of brilliance brought home the three points.

The win made it three wins in a row at the SCL and a fourth on Wednesday night would be brilliant. It is worth noting that when playing at home, Reading have not lost to Blackpool in their last six encounters.

After 12 matches, the Rz are now up in seventh, and wins like the Barnsley one are vital. Paunovic hailed his side’s confidence, noting that “The confidence is back” and now his side needs to “appreciate it, nourish it, enjoy it and apply it in the game.”

Wise words from the gaffer who is doing well with an injury plagued squad which is still seeing new signings bed in.
