France vs Germany – Euro 2020 Betting Tips

France are meeting Germany in the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany on the 16th of June 2021 at 00:30 IST. 2014 WC winners against 2018 WC winners in what is pitted to be one of the many tantalising games scheduled in the ‘Group of Death’. We can expect the best quality football nonetheless.

France Form and Team News

The World Cup holders are opening their quest for a EURO title which they narrowly missed in an epic final in 2016 at the hands of Portugal against neighbours Germany as part of the understandably most talked about Group in the competition ‘Group F’ with Hungary and fellow rivals Portugal too in the mix. France in the qualification rounds were part of Group H where they finished as the number one side with Turkey finishing a close second in the race. France won eight games in the ten played while losing one game and drawing the one other game. France are currently on a seven-match unbeaten streak and a four-match winning streak to go with it. France are widely tipped to go one better this time around and win the title, usually, the competition heats up for all teams with the knockouts starting, but teams in Group F are going to face the heat right from the start.

Didier Deschamps has had the luxury of having to coach some of the best players in the world that he can ask for. He made merry with them in the World Cup 2018 and won the title to create a legacy for his own. He now has the objective of winning the title that eluded them last time around. Hugo Lloris is expected in the goal, while Varane, Lenglet, Pavard, Zouma, Hernandez and Digne would be in defence. Pogba, Kante, Coman, Rabiot and Tolisso comprise the midfield. Mbappe, Griezmann, Dembele, Giroud, Ben Yedder along with the returning legendary striker Karim Benzema complete arguably the most potent forward line-up to have ever played for France.

Germany Form and Team News

In the qualification rounds, Germany finished as the number one side from the group which also had the likes of Netherlands, Northern Ireland, Belarus and Estonia. Germany won seven games out of the eight matches played. They just lost a solitary game in the campaign which also saw them scoring 30 goals and conceding just seven games in the process. In the last ten games of Germany have managed to win as many as six games, just losing two games. Germany after the legendary run in the 2014 WC have just fizzled away from the championships after that. They have not been able to replicate anything similar to that performance. They have never been short of talent and are still producing world-class players, but the results don’t seem to arrive for the Germans at the moment, they are facing a very strong French side in their opening game of the EURO 2020 and are also part of the toughest and intense group of the championship which also has Portugal and Hungary too in the mix.

Coach Joachim Low’s spectacular German coaching career is coming to an end after this championship. He would like to sign off on the best note possible and try to revoke that winning formula within the team to have any chance in this group. The Legendary Manuel Neuer is most likely to keep the goal and also lead the side. In defence, they have the likes of Rudiger, Emre Can, Mat Hummels, Sule, Ginter and Klostermann along with the others. Kross, Kimmich, Muller, Havertz, Gundogen, Gnabry, Goretzka, and Musiala would be in the midfield. The attack line consists predominantly of Werner, Sane and Volland, even though there are only three regular strikers in the squad, Germany have the luxury of a number of attacking midfielders capable of hitting goals.

Our Tipster’s Angle

France have a better head to head record and the important thing to note here is that domination has happened mostly in the recent meetings more than in the olden times which clearly shows that France are getting better day by day and that culminated in them winning the last World Cup as well. Also, the recent record is also favouring France big time, while Germany have been found wanting against stronger teams in the recent past. So we can say France have look favourites to win this encounter.

Tip 1: Draw No Bet France

Germany have not been the Germany that it used to be, they have been missing that consistent self and more often than not find themselves lacking that cutting edge in crunch moments of the games in the recent past and France are showing the exact opposite trait and the recent head to head record also lies testimony to that fact, France have managed to win three of the last five matches against Germany while drawing the two other games. France are also coming into this game after winning six of the last seven games while Germany have lost two of the last six games, while also failing to win in two of the last four away games. So it’s evident that France are going into this game with their tails up and are expected to walk away with at least a draw in this tie. According to the Casumo Sportsbook, the odds for Draw No Bet France is 1.81.

Tip 2: Both teams not to score

In the last five head to head matches where France have gone unbeaten against neighbours Germany have also seen three games where either or both teams failing to score. This record while playing in France, says two of the last three head to head matches have also been maintained. All four of the last four matches of France have also satisfied the above criteria. While playing at home as well, both of their last two matches have also seen both teams not scoring. Four of the last eight games where Germany was part of were satisfying the condition as well. Both of the last two away games have also had both teams not scoring. Therefore we can conclude that it’s quite likely that both teams to not score. The odds for Both teams to not score according to Casumo Sportsbook is 1.95.

Conclusion

France goes in as favourites, but Germany could have some other ideas as well. The first of the many high-stake encounters in this edition of the EURO is all set to take centre stage on Wednesday. Expect the two former world champs to give us a spectacle at the end of it. Summarising on a couple of bets from above:

  1. Draw No Bet France @ 1.81
  2. Both teams not to score @ 1.95
