Russia vs Denmark – Euro 2020 Betting Tips

Russia are hosting Denmark in the Group B meeting of this years’ EURO in the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen on the 22nd of June 2021 at 00:30 IST. Denmark after two very close matches are still at the bottom of the table and unless they win this game by a specific margin and Finland loses their respective game, they cannot qualify while Russia will need at least a draw to guarantee qualification.

Denmark Form and Team News

Denmark against the Belgians in the last game were leading for quite a while until the arrival of Kevin De Bruyne who completely turned around the complexion of the game and in turn, won it for them, thus Denmark finds themselves in the bottom positions and hoping to not just win the last game with a GD of at least two goals but also need Finland to lose their respective game as well. Denmark showed remarkable spirit during the first game even during times of turmoil. They stayed as a team and showed the heart to come back after the unfortunate incident to still have an upper hand in the game even though losing it in the end. Denmark can take heart from the fact that they created enough chances to make inroads while a finish is all that would’ve helped, they can correct that and still qualify into the next rounds. Denmark qualified as the second-placed team from Group D in the qualification rounds with 16 points gathered from the eight games played. They went on to win four games while drawing four other games. They were one of the very few teams in the qualification rounds to have finished without losing a single game. They missed out on a first-place finish by a point difference to eventual leaders Switzerland.

Kasper Hjulmand is the coach of the Denmark national football team and has been quite magnificent with his antics, the strategies and decisions he is making all reflecting on a good on-field performance from the team. The attack line needs to be clinical while finishing. The midfield and defense are doing their job quite decently and just the ability to get the ball into the net is all that Denmark needs to win games. Christian Erikson is likely to miss out owing to the unfortunate incident in the first game.

Russia Form and Team News

Russia won their last game against the Finland side in a decent showing which saw them getting to a one-nil result. They now are on three points and need to get at least a draw in the last game against Denmark to qualify for the knockouts. Russia were coming into the competition high on hopes after the brilliant showing in the last World Cup. But it was quickly set to rest by the raging Belgians who thrashed them from all sides. Russia went on to lose the first game three goals to nil and are now in a spot of bother. They now need to not just win the rest of the group games while also have to make sure they get big wins just to be sure of finishing with a positive GD in case the qualification gets into that stage. Russia had a brilliant set of Qualification matches where they finished second in the group to just the Russia team who finished the group toppers. They were part of Group I and in the ten games played, Russia managed to win eight of those while losing to just Russia in both home and away matches. They also scored as many as 33 goals in the process while conceding just seven goals. They are playing confident the Danes in the third-round match on Tuesday.

Coach Stanislav Cherchesov would’ve been happy seeing his team’s performance in the qualification rounds but their opening game should act as an eye-opener and the headman should get his tactics straight from here on. Everyone had a good game against the Finland side last week with Miranchuk finding the back of the net. Dzyuba, Kuzyaev, Golovin, Zobnin along with Ozdoev in the midfield have all had a good last game. The defense held its line and was quite fantastic to say as well.

Our Tipster’s Angle

Denmark even though for their losses in the last two games did not play badly in both of the games. They were actually bossing the game for probably two-thirds of the game and only for a few moments did they let loose and eventually lost out. So you can’t really complain about Denmark being in bad form, they are just a bit unlucky and a win here which in all likelihood will happen would be enough along with a win for Belgium against Scandinavian rivals Finland would be enough to qualify for the knockouts.

Tip 1: Total Goals over 2.5

Four of the last eight matches that Denmark have played across competitions have had the total goals to be over 2.5. While playing away, Denmark have had two of their last four matches where the total goals have been over 2.5. In the case of Russia, six of the last nine matches played across competitions, have had the total goals to be over 2.5. Playing at home, one of their last two matches also had the total goals to be over 2.5. All four of Russia’s last four qualification matches have also seen them having a total of over 2.5 goals in them. So it’s quite likely the match will have over 2.5 goals. According to the Casumo Sportsbook, the odds for the total goals to be over 2.5 is 1.98.

Tip 2: Both teams to score

In the last eight qualification matches played by Denmark across competitions, four of those have had both teams score. While playing away, two of their last four matches Denmark have played across competitions have had both teams scoring. Four of the last seven matches Russia have been part of have had the above condition being satisfied. Playing at home, three of the last five matches Russia was part of has turned out to have both teams scoring. One of the last two qualification matches of Russia have also had both teams scoring. So it’s most likely both teams might end up scoring. The odds for Both Teams to score according to the Casumo Sportsbook is 1.96.

Conclusion

Denmark will have nothing but a win as their agenda while Russia on the other hand would need at least a draw to qualify. This game is sure to bring out some high-octane football to decide the top two sides of Group B. Summarising on a couple of bets from above:

  1. Total Goals over 2.5 @1.98
  2. Both teams to score @
